Learn the art of drawing banigs (Filipino woven mats) using color pencils and paper with Kenneth Tan, author of Crescenciana: A Memoir in Words and Illustrations. In this class, you'll learn to draw several line patterns inspired by Filipino weavings and tattoos. You'll then use these patterns to create your own unique banig. The process of drawing patterns can be calming, meditative, and fun!

This class is beginner-friendly, and no previous drawing experience is necessary. 

Kenneth Tan is a second-generation Filipino American living in his hometown of San Jose. He has shared stories about his grandmother, Crescenciana Tan, on NPR and StoryCorps, and he is a recipient of the Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists Award. Crescenciana is his first book.
