Booked on Crime In-Person

Join the Burlingame Library's mystery group, Booked on Crime. We read mysteries, thrillers, and sometimes true crime. We try to select books the library system owns in physical and e-format.

No registration is needed, but if you want reminder emails, contact Cynthia at rider@plsinfo.org.

Fall 2025 Schedule

Sep 18: The River We Remember by William Kent Krueger (20+ copies in all formats)

When the body of a wealthy landowner is found floating in the Alabaster River on Memorial Day in 1958, Sheriff Brody Dern, a highly decorated war hero, struggles to solve this murder that has the town of Jewel, Minnesota, up in arms, while putting to rest the demons from his own past.

Oct 16: Ruth Run by Elizabeth Kaufman (10 copies +3 on order) An ingeniously twisty, witty, and fast-paced cybercrime chase novel in which the eponymous thief, who has stolen several lifetimes worth of money, flees northern California and makes her way across Oregon, Idaho, and Utah with a slew of men in pursuit.

Nov 20: The Marlow Murder Club by Robert Thorogood (12 copies)

Judith Potts is seventy-seven years old and blissfully happy. She lives on her own in a faded mansion just outside Marlow, there's no man in her life to tell her what to do or how much whisky to drink, and to keep herself busy she sets crosswords for The Times newspaper. One evening, while out swimming in the Thames, Judith witnesses a brutal murder. The local police don't believe her story, so she decides to investigate for herself, and is soon joined in her quest by Suzie, a salt-of-the-earth dog-walker, and Becks, the prim and proper wife of the local vicar. Together, they are the Marlow Murder Club. When another body turns up, they realize they have a real-life serial killer on their hands.

Dec 18: The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco by Michelle Chouinard. (11 copies)

A true crime tour guide tries to track down a killer in this fleet-footed whodunit from Chouinard (the Jo Fournier series, as M.M. Choinard). Capri Sanzio, 49, owns and operates SF Killer Crime Tours in San Francisco. She was drawn to the job in part because her grandfather, William "Overkill Bill" Sanzio, was a convicted serial killer who died in prison, maintaining his innocence until the end. Due to a copycat killer she needs to clear her family’s name.

We will decide the rest of the year's books in June.
