Calling all artists! What does the library and reading mean to you? Enter the Burlingame Library Card design contest and help us create new designs for our library cards. Your artwork could be featured on a special, limited edition library card. 

Three new library card designs will be selected from several age groups: 

• Children 6th grade + younger
• Teens 7th-12th grade
• Adults 18 and older

RULES

• Open to all Burlingame/Hillsborough Library cardholders, all ages welcome
• The focus of the design should represent Burlingame, Libraries and/or Reading.

• You can also pickup the contest package at both the Main and Easton Branch libraries. Print the design template one sided on letter size paper. You may recreate the template on your home computer, but you must keep the dimensions the same and include all the requested information.
• Both vertical and horizontal library card designs will be considered
• For physical submissions, use the template included in the packet or downloaded from this page
• Only one entry per community member 
• Submissions must be original and creative, free of copyright restrictions. They can include pen, paint, crayon, photograph or illustration.
• Digital designs must be high resolution, at least 300 dpi, and the following formats will be accepted: .jpeg, .png, .ai, .eps, .psd and .pdf 

• Please use the template provided to create your design. The actual size of the library card will be 3.125"x 1.875". Your design will be scaled to fit in the correct size. Please avoid adding text/letters in the margin as it might be cut off. See above diagram for details of printing specs.

• Upon submission, all entrants grant the Burlingame Public Library the right to reproduce the submitted artwork as a library card. Entrants also grant the Library permission to use the artwork/image in promoting the library card. Entrants will retain ownership of their work and will be granting a usage license to the Burlingame Public Library for the stated purposes. Limit one entry per person. Do not include name in the artwork. 
• The library reserves the right to deny any submission deemed inappropriate due to the use of derogatory language or imagery, use of copyrighted materials (including cartoons, excerpts from books, etc.), or entries that do not incorporate reading and/or libraries. 
• A panel of judges from the community will determine the final winning designs and the cards will be available in early 2022.
• Artwork will be judged by originality, design and creativity, and how those combined share the message of libraries and reading 
• Employees of the City of Burlingame and Town of Hillsborough are excluded from participating in contest.
